Dereham Town 3-1 Molesey (aet)

The FA Vase

Dereham Town are into the last 32 of the FA Vase after winning a tense game against Molesey in extra time.

The visitors took the lead after Dereham keeper John Higgs failed to claim a corner in the first half.

Danny Beaumont levelled with a penalty on his 19th birthday on the stroke of half time.

After a tight second half, Nicky Howell made the most of the few chances presented to him, scoring two goals in extra time to the delight of the crowd.

Howell told BBC Radio Norfolk he was delighted to see his team through.

"I had a couple of chances during normal time where I felt I should have scored, but it's always good to get two goals, I'm very pleased," he said.

"The pitch isn't great, it's muddy and it's wet, but you're going to get that everywhere at the minute. It wasn't a pretty game, but we're glad to get the win."

Goalkeeper Higgs was pleased with his performance in goal inspite of the mistake which led to Molesey's goal.

"I probably had a shaky start to the season, so it was nice to have a decent game. I made a couple of good blocks. Matty [Henman, Dereham manager] has stuck by me, which I'm chuffed for," he said.

The draw for the fourth round of the FA Vase will be made on Monday.
