Worcester City's debutant striker Marco Adaggio scored a late winner as City came away from Bognor with a 2-1 win.
Adaggio told BBC Hereford and Worcester:"It's brilliant to score, and you can't really ask for anything better than winning your first game.
"It was quite a good performance by the lads and with the result going in our favour it's a great way to start."
City's new-look side started well as they took the lead on 23 minutes through new signing Ollie Barnes.
They held this lead until only two minutes from time when Bognor's Simon Jackson headed home from a free-kick to seemingly claim his side a point.
But City took all three points when Adaggio span his defender on the edge of the box before firing home from 20 yards.
City boss Richard Dryden said: "As the pre-season has gone on, I think we have played better, but we didn't play really well today.
"In the first 15 minutes we didn't get out of our half, but the pleasing thing was that the back four looked solid and they headed everything.
The only potential setback for City was an early injury to David Bampton who was helped off the field after only three minutes.
Worcester City will host St Albans City on Monday 11 August when the kick off at St George's Lane 1945BST.
There will be full commentary on the game on BBC Hereford and Worcester's website at bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester.
