Exeter 'must retain league place'

Exeter City Director of Football Steve Perryman
City must not get relegated again according to Perryman

Exeter City officials have spoken about what their return to league football might bring.

Director of football Steve Perryman said after five hard years of work, they do not want to be relegated again.

"We have now presented a team that the city can be proud of, we have gained credibility and now we have got to make sure we do not come down again."

"We have got to really start working hard as soon as we come back for pre season," defender Matt Taylor added.

When Exeter City were relegated five years ago, the fans took over the running of the club's finances.

Chairman of the supporters trust Denis Watts said the club's finances should get a helping hand from their return to the Football League.

"From Wembley itself we shall make about 20,000.

"As far as the league is concerned...Obviously it'll be beneficial but as to how much we don't know," Watts said.
