Redditch United's patched-up side found Blue Square North champions Kettering Town too hot to handle at Valley Stadium as the Poppies won 2-0.
After a bright start by the home team, Kettering took control with two goals in the first half-hour.
The Poppies went ahead through Craig Westcarr after 24 minutes.
David Galbraith doubled their lead six minutes later and there was no way back for the Reds, who fielded four injured players on their substitutes' bench.
