Carey has made just four starts for King's Lynn this season (Linnets on Film)
King's Lynn have announced they have released former Norwich City midfielder Shaun Carey.
The 31-year-old has struggled to recover properly from a broken leg suffered during a game against Corby Town in October 2006.
His most recent comeback ended when he was injured while playing for Spalding United in a bid to boost his fitness.
Carey has made just four stars for Lynn this season. The final one was in the 4-0 win at Team Bath in February.
Ironically that result at Twerton Park could turn out to be the most important of King's Lynn's season.
The Linnets are battling for the one automatic promotion place from the Southern Premier League with Team Bath and Halesowen.
Carey played 76 matches for Norwich City before his release in 2000 and also represented the Republic of Ireland at under-21 level.
Shaun Carey's clubs
Norwich City 1994-2000
Rushden and Diamonds 2000-2002
Stevenage Borough (loan) 2001-2002
Chester City 2002-2004
Hornchurch 2004-2006
King's Lynn 2006-2008
Just months after having his leg broken by a horrific tackle in a match against Corby, Carey found himself as King's Lynn's caretaker-manager.
He took temporary control after Tommy Taylor left to join Peterborough and was in charge for the FA Cup second-round defeat by Oldham Athletic in December 2006 when more than 5,500 supporters came to The Walks.
