Norwich caretaker manager Martin Hunter took charge of City for the first time on Wednesday in a benefit game for Kings Lynn midfielder Shaun Carey. The Canaries beat Carey's side - the Southern League leaders - 3-0.
Ex-Norwich midfielder Carey, 30, is out of action for several months after suffering a double fracture of his leg.
"It was a game to help Shaun and that's the vital thing," Hunter said. "But it was good to give Darren Huckerby and Matt Louis-Jean some match time."
Hunter has already expressed his interest in taking the manager's job at Carrow Road on a permanent basis.
But he knows there will be a lot of competition for the post and said: "It is obviously a big challenge.
"There will be a lot of people who want the position so we will have to wait and see."
