Chris Cornes has left AFC Telford United |
AFC Telford United have agreed to terminate Chris Cornes' contract after discussions with the player. Cornes was coming towards the end of a club disciplinary process.
Telford chairman Lee Carter said: "We have agreed to the termination of the player's contract after receiving a written request from him.
"There has been much speculation about Chris recently. We have a duty to all of our employees to ensure they are dealt with in a fair and unbiased way."
He added: "Chris leaving is sad because we always believed that we could be the club that gets the best out of him. We committed lots of time and energy into the player but it didn't quite come off."
The 21-year-old, who came through the ranks at Wolves, had his Molineux contract terminated in the aftermath of him testing positve for cocaine.
And, after an unsuccessful spell at Worcester City, he was brought to Telford by boss Rob Smith.
