Sir Bobby Robson admitted Newcastle United's dramatic Champions League win against Feyenoord was his finest moment at the club.

Craig Bellamy's injury-time winner gave Newcastle a 3-2 victory in Rotterdam and sent the Toon Army into the money-spinning second phase of the tournament.

It completed a remarkable recovery after Newcastle lost their first three games in the tournament.

Juventus won against Dynamo Kiev to complete Newcastle's night of joy and leave the 69-year-old a proud man.

Robson agreed it was his biggest success since taking the job, admitting: "Probably because of the importance of it for us.

"I thought the way we played against Juventus was a great night - if we hadn't won that night, we would have been here to do that, so yes, I guess it is."

Robson's gamble to play Bellamy, who had missed the last six games through injury, paid off in style as he scored twice, with Hugo Viana also on target.

But Feyenoord made it a tense night for Newcastle as they pulled back a two-goal deficit before Bellamy struck decisively.

"I think it's the first time this has ever happened, so I suppose we've created a bit of history," Robson said. "Not many people gave us a chance.

"I heard at one stage it was 1-1 in Kiev, but this game had too much in it for me to think about another game," Robson said.

"I couldn't take in two games at the same time, so I gave that one up.

"All I was conscious of here was trying to not lose this one and hang in. I thought at one stage, 2-2, let's not go out, because had they scored, and gone into a 3-2 lead, they would have qualified.

"They would have been in, they would have had eight points, so they've been about that much from actually staying in the Champions League, and at the end of the day, they've got nothing.

"We heard the score from Kiev in the dressing room, and they were ecstatic."
