It was a fantastic achievement for Newcastle United to make it into the second phase of the Champions League.

After losing their first three group games, they were rated at 25/1 to come through - but that's typical Newcastle - either all or absolutely nothing.

I thought they were brilliant going forward on Wednesday night.

All credit to Craig Bellamy in his first game for more than three weeks. He was still going strong enough in the 93rd minute to score the winner.

When the draw was made for the first round everybody thought Newcastle would be the team who might struggle, especially away from home.

The first three games were an amazing learning curve for them.

They then scraped a couple of results in the next two games without playing at their best to give themselves a chance of qualifying.

That must please manager Sir Bobby Robson when they start planning for the second phase.

I had a quick word with him after the match and he said he'd never been involved in a game of such high emotions.

At 2-0 up he felt they were quite comfortable but when Feyenoord changed their system and came back to 2-2, he didn't feel his side would end up as winners.

He felt so many different emotions that by the end he was just worn out and couldn't possibly explain what had happened during the final 15 minutes.

It was a fantastic game of football and a real advert for European football with both teams playing their part.
