Stoke's Mamady Sidibe eyes January return to action

Mali international Sidibe hopes to be back in action for Stoke in January

Mali and Stoke City striker Mamady Sidibe is eyeing a possible return to action in January.

The 30-year-old has not played since he snapped his Achilles tendon in August, just two games into the new season.

Speaking to local newspaper The Sentinel, Sidibe said his recovery was going according to plan.

"I haven't touched a football yet, but there has been no setback and I had good news from the specialist," Sidibe told the newspaper.

It was initially thought that Sidibe would be out for most of the season, but his recovery now appears to be ahead of schedule.

"To get injured in just the second game of the season was a horrible thing to happen.

"But now things are moving in the right direction and I have been doing a lot of running to make sure I get back to full fitness quickly," he said.

"There is still some work to be done, but hopefully I'll be back sometime in January. It has been very frustrating for me to be out for so long," Sidibe concluded.
