Togo's Emmanuel Adebayor scored his fourth goal in as many games for Manchester City as they beat his former club Arsenal 4-2.
However, his goal was overshadowed by accusations that he stamped on former team-mate Robin van Persie and his goal celebration in front of the Arsenal fans.
The Togo captain has denied the stamping charge and apologised for the celebration but has now been hit with two charges from the Football Association.
Tthe Ivory Coast's Didier Drogba helped Chelsea make it five wins out of five as they beat won 2-1 at Stoke City, whose goal was scored by Senegal's Abdoulaye Faye.
His compatriot El Hadji Diouf opened the scoring for Blackburn Rovers in their 3-1 victory at home over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Guinea's Kamil Zayatte scored for both sides as his Hull team lost 4-1 at Sunderland.

Angola's Manucho scored his first goal for his new club, Valladolid, but it was not enough as they lost 4-2 to visiting Valencia.
GERMANY
Burkina Faso's Aristide Bance is enjoying his best start to a season yet as he scored his third of the campaign for Mainz in their 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
Senegal striker Demba Ba found the back of the net for the first time this season as Hoffenheim dismissed Bochum 3-0. Nigeria's Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi also scored taking his tally to two goals for the season.
FRANCE
Senegal striker Mamadou Niang was on target for Marseille with his third goal of the season to give his side the lead at Le Mans. Mali's Modibo Maiga then equalised with his second of the season but it wasn't enough as Marseille eventually won 2-1.
BELGIUM
Two Africans helped St Truiden to hand Anderlecht their first defeat of the season, Zimbabwe's Cephas Chimedza and Senegal's Ibrahim Sidibe scoring in the 2-1 victory.
The win puts St Truiden at the top of the table, one point ahead of Gent. This is the first time in since 1965 that St Truiden have occupied top spot.
Burkina Faso defender Mahamadou Kere was sent-off early in the game as his side Charleroi lost 4-0 to Cercle Bruges.
Senegal striker Mbaye Leye scored his first two goals of the season as he helped his side Gent trounced nine-man Roulers 5-1.
The were tears of joy for 18-year-old Congo striker Bavon Tshibuabua as he scored his first goal to help Beerschot to a 2-1 win over Lokeren.
THE NETHERLANDS
Said Boutahar put Willem II ahead just two minutes into their game against Feyenoord, but it was not enough as his side went on to lose 3-2.
TURKEY
Nigeria striker Isaac Promise helped his new club Manisaspor to a 3-1 win over Sivasspor by scoring the second goal just before the half-time whistle.
GREECE
Tunisia midfielder Mehdi Nafti scored the only goal of the game as Aris Saloniki edged out Pas Giannina.
