Tottenham Hotspur beat Liverpool 2-1 on the first day of the Premier League season, thanks to their two Cameroonian recruits.
Defender Sebastien Bassong scored a second half winner after compatriot Benoit Assou-Ekotto had put Spurs ahead just before half-time.
It took just three minutes for Emmanuel Adebayor to open his account for the new season in his debut for Manchester City who beat Blackburn 2-0.
The Togolese blasted home from close to give City the lead.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, two goals by Didier Drogba saw Chelsea come back from a goal down to beat Hull City 2-1.
The Ivory Coast striker scored Chelsea's equaliser from a splendid free kick before sealing victory deep into stoppage time.
BELGIUM
Morocco's Mbark Boussoufa was on the score sheet for the third consecutive weekend, netting the last goal in Anderlecht's 3-0 win over Westerlo.
All three second-half goals in the game between Lokeren and St Truiden were scored by Africans.
Senegal striker Ibrahim Sidibe put St Truiden ahead on 50 minutes before the Congolese midfielder Marcel Mbayo equalised for Lokerene.
But it was St Truiden who carried all three points, thanks to a 79th-minute winner by Zimbabwe's Cephas Chimedza.
Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala opened his account for FC Bruges but they still lost 2-1 to Malines.
Meanwhile, it has taken three games for one of last season's top scorers, Dieumerci Mbokani, to find the back of the net.
The DR Congo forward was on target just before half-time as defending champions Standard Liege crushed Roulers 5-1.
Mouscron's Nigerian striker Jaycee Okwunwanne put two goals past Kortrijk, including a last-minute controversial equaliser to take his tally to four.
But Mouscron went on toconcede twice and draw the match.
GERMANY
In a drama-packed second-half, title holders Wolfsburg came from a goal down to beat FC Koln 3-1.
Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins came on as a substitute midway in the second-half to seal the points for Wolfsburg in the 87th minute.
The defending champions had also been aided by a Koln own goal by their Cameroon defender Pierre Wome, who mistakenly headed into his net.
Burkina Faso's Aristide Bance put Mainz in the lead at Hannover but the two sides shared the points after a 1-1 draw.
Cameroon striker Mahamadou Idrissou scored both goals for Freiburg in a second-half blitz that saw the ball in the back of the net six times.
But Freiburg conceded four of those in a 4-2 defeat at Stuttgart.
Algerian Karim Matmour scored the opening goal for Borussia Monchengladbach who beat Hertha Berlin 2-1.
PORTUGAL
It was the start of the Super League and Cameroon striker Albert Ze Meyong scored a late winner for Sporting Braga who beat Academica 1-0.
TURKEY
Diyarbakirspor came from behind to beat Trabzonspor 2-1, thanks to two goals by Cameroonian Fidjeu Tazemeta.
Roguy Meye from Gabon rescued Ankaraspor from a home defeat with a last gasp equaliser to force a 1-1 draw with Genclerbirligi.
Two goals by Guinea striker Souleymane Youla helped Eskisehirspor to a 3-2 win over Bursaspor.
FRANCE
Marouane Chamakh continues to impress his many admirers in the English Premier League after scoring two more goals for Bordeaux in their 3-2 win against Sochaux.
The Moroccan striker headed the first from a corner in the 30th minute and added a second with 10 minutes remaining.
Tunisia striker Chaouki Ben Saada put Nice ahead two minutes before the interval, but Rennes' Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan equalised in added time of the first-half from the penalty spot in the 1-1 draw.
HOLLAND
Mounir El-Hamdaoui of Morocco was on target for the third successive weekend as AZ Alkmaar, the title holders, demolished Waalwijk 6-0.
