The Frenchman is left the Ghana job after less than two years

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are due to name a new coach in the near future after interviewing applicants for the vacant Black Stars manager's post in Holland on Saturday.

A shortlist of five coaches has been drawn up from the over 30 coaches who applied for the post vacated by Frenchman Claude Le Roy.

The list includes former Austria coach Josef Hickesberger and German Ralf Zumdick but the identity of the remaining three has not been made public.

"We are unable to disclose the names of all the coaches because some of them are contracted to clubs at the moment," GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told BBC Sport.

"They have pleaded with us to keep it confidential until such a time that they can tell their employers before they resign to take the Ghana post if they are chosen.

"Ghana needs a coach with the relevant experience, track record at the top level and some experience of African football or coaching African players.

"All the coaches we have shortlisted fit this criteria and I am positive we will bring out the best for the country."

A three-man GFA team will now consider the credentials of coaches before the identity of the new manager is unveiled by next month.

The GFA has been criticised by a section of the Ghanaian media for holding the interviews in Amsterdam but Nyantakyi says the move was economically sound.

"Bringing five coaches to Africa and paying all their expenses as against sending a three-man team to Europe is cost efficient for the country," Nyantakyi said.

"Getting all the coaches to come to Accra for the interview at the same time was difficult because some of them are still coaching so Holland is a central point as all of them are based in Europe.

"We also thought that getting away from the pressures of the media and fans in Ghana could in a way help us discharge this duty creditably."

The 2006 World Cup finalists have been without a substantive coach since Le Roy quit the post in May.

Ghana appointed local coach Sellas Tetteh on caretaker basis for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in June.
