Madagascar held Ivory Coast to a surprising draw

Madagascar held Ivory Coast to a surprise 0-0 draw in Group 7 of joint qualifying for the 2010 World Cup & Africa Cup of Nations.

The Elephants had many of their stars on show such as Arsenal's Kolo Toure and Tottenham's Didier Zokora.

However they were unable to break through the Madagascar defence.

Botswana are now top of Group 7 after an away 2-1 victory over Mozambique.

Diphetogo Selolwane opened the scoring for the Zebras halfway for the first half.

It took to Mambas forty minutes to reply when Almiro Lobo hit an equaliser.

But ten minutes from time, Boitumelo Mafoko scored to snatch the victory for Botswana and leapfrog Ivory Coast in Group 7.

The 2010 World Cup qualifiers continue next weekend when the Elephants test themselves against away to Botswana and Mozambique host Madagascar.
