Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o wants his Spanish club Barcelona to win the European Champions League to make up for their indifferent domestic form.
"We want to win the Champions League to shut up our critics," Eto'o, three-time African Player of the Year, said.
The Catalans face German-side Schalke in the second leg, quarter-final of the Champions League on 9 April.
Barca trail league-leaders Real Madrid by seven points in La Liga after two games without a win.
"We are super-angry that we couldn't beat Getafe (in our last domestic game). After all, we hit the post three times.
"The second leg quarter-final is another game and we are Barca, so we are not going to let our heads drop," Eto'o said.
The poor domestic form has seen the Catalan club's ever-vocal supporters vent their frustration by demanding the resignation of coach Frank Rijkaard, but Eto'o remains resolute.
We want (to) win the Champions League to shut up our critics (so) our true fans can then celebrate in the streets

"We've got to forget what the crowd are doing because they are now not going to change their opinion until the end of the season.
"The players have faith in the coach and we want to win the European title because that will silence the critics and our true fans can then celebrate in the streets," added Eto'o.
The 2006 European champions beat German side Schalke 1-0 in Gelsenkirchen in the first leg to take the advantage in their quarter-final clash.
