Eto'o has been fined US$17,000 for singing anti-Real Madrid songs

Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o has been fined US$17,000 by the Spanish federation for singing anti-Real Madrid songs.

Eto'o, who plays for Barcelona, was reported to have jubilated excessively during his club's win of the 2005 Spanish league title.

The federation ruled that the Eto'o's actions during the celebrations were "very grave" and amounted to "initiating violence."

The striker, who recently set the Africa Cup of Nations scoring record, helped lead Barcelona to back-to-back titles in 2005 and '06.

The same year the Catalan club also captured the Champions League trophy.
