The Super Falcons face a tough examination of their character |
Nigeria play Ghana in Abuja on Saturday in an Olympic Games qualifier they must win to qualify for Beijing 2008. The Super Falcons are on a high after last Saturday's 10-1 demolition of Namibia secured their place at the African women's championship.
But coach Jossy Lad told BBC Sport that he expects a much tougher examination of his team's character on Saturday.
"Ghana is a stronger and better team than Namibia, so we're not going to take them for granted," Lad said.
The Black Queens only need a draw to win Africa's final qualifying group and secure the continent's sole automatic place at the Olympic football tournament in August.
The losers of Saturday's showdown in Abuja will face a play-off against Brazil for another place at the Olympics.
The African group also includes South Africa but Banyana Banyana have absolutely no chance of making it to Beijing.
With six points to Ghana's nine, Lad knows that Saturday's clash is a must-win for his team.
He said: "It's going to be tough. Although we're playing at home, Ghana is a force to reckon with in African women's football.
"They've always been our closest rivals in Africa and I'm not going to rest on my laurels.
"I've been drumming this into the heads of my players because matches against Ghana have always been difficult."
During the first leg in Accra, the Black Queens tore the form book to pieces and beat the Super Falcons 1-0 to seize the initiative in the three-team African group.
