Togo striker Emmanuel 'Sheyi' Adebayor is set to be severely punished by French championship side Monaco after failing to report back for training earlier this week.
Adebayor is set to play in the Nations Cup in Egypt later this month but was still required by Monaco to play a league match on Thursday.
The lanky striker was to have left for a training camp with his country after the away match against Auxerre.
Yet Monaco sporting director Jean-Luc Ettori said there had been no sign of the Togolese goalscorer.
"He should have returned on Monday and then left again after the match on Thursday," said Ettori, a former French international goalkeeper.
"But I have had no news and he is not answering his mobile telephone.
"In my opinion he will not return, despite us trying to fit our plans around him. He will be severely punished."
The Togo squad begin their training camp in Sfax, Tunisia, on Tuesday for the Nations Cup, which kicks off on 20 January.
The Hawks are in Group B along with four-time winners Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo and fellow 2006 World Cup finalists Angola.
