Group Three results
Samuel Eto'o
Eto'o broke the deadlock for Cameroon
Cameroon went a point clear at the top of Group Three in qualifying for the 2006 World Cup qualifying after a 2-0 win at home against Ivory Coast on Saturday.

The win, thanks to goals from Samuel Eto'o and Guy Feutchine, allowed the Cameroonians to leapfrog their West African neighbours at the top.

Both goals were scored late in a dull match that exploded into life in the last few minutes.

Eto'o notched on 80 minutes when he got on the end of Feutchine's cross from the right and beat the offside trap to slot home.

Then a minute later Feutchine turned scorer, blasting home after receiving the ball from Atuba.

But the match ended in chaos when Ivory Coast's defender Kanga Akale was sent off for a vicious kick on Pius Ndiefi.

That triggered a brawl between the two sides, although it was soon ended.

There was more violence when Libya beat Sudan 1-0 in Khartoum, leaving the Sudanese rooted to the bottom of the group.

Nader Karra got a late goal for the Libyans in a match in Omdurman was marred by violence and on-pitch clashes towards the end.

Tarek El Taib
El Taib again shone for Libya

Karra got the goal on 90 minutes, surging forward from midfield with a mazy run before rounding Sudan's keeper El Moaz Mahjoub and putting the ball in the net.

Although Sudan had battled bravely for much of the match, it had been Libya who had all the best chances and Karra's goal was little more than they deserved.

Tarek El Taib in particular had another good game for the Libyans, setting up a number of efforts, although Libya's strikers were often unable to really test Mahjoub until late in the match.

But the final whistle did not blow until eight minutes after Libya's winner.

It was stopped soon after Karra's goal as riots broke out in the stands and the home fans started to throw objects onto the pitch.

Shortly afterwards, fans and security forces became involved in a brawl.

Meanwhile in Cotonou, a spectacular match between Benin and Egypt ended 3-3.

Benin's Squirrels got off to a great start, in front of a very sparse crowd, when Omar Tchomogo netted a penalty after just six minutes.

Then in stoppage time of the first-half, Stephan Sessegnon took advantage of a sluggish Egyptian defence to double their lead.

Although the Egyptians pulled a goal back midway in the second-half through Mustafa, Benin's Muritala Ogunbiyi restored his side's two-goal margin in the 67th minute.

But the Egyptians impressively fought back, and goals from Ghali and another from Mustafa pulled them level with 10 minutes still to play.
