Enyeama is the Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper |
Nigeria international goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has escaped unhurt from a car crash which killed two motorbike passengers and left the car's driver in a critical condition.
The Super Eagles star suffered only bruises after the car somersaulted twice as it swerved to avoid a motorbike on Monday.
"I'm lucky to be alive," said a shaken Enyeama, who was on his way to his hometown Uyo in southern Nigeria after playing in a Champions League match for holders Enyimba against Bakili Bullets in Malawi.
There are doubts he might miss the semi-final first leg of the Champions League against Esperance of Tunisia at the end of the month in Aba.
"Let us see what the doctors say. Esperance are a very strong team and we have to be at our best to win the tie, and I am prepared to fight to be fit in time for the match," he said.
The 22-year-old has been the country's first-choice since the 2002 World Cup, and was voted the best goalkeeper at the African Cup of Nations in Tunisia in February.
