Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is on trial at Bolton |
Nigeria and Enyimba goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is on trial at English Premiership side Bolton Wanderers.
The keeper has been recommended by the Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha, who is already at the club.
Enyeama was voted the best goalkeeper at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year in Tunisia.
According to the player, Okocha only became involved in the arrangements towards the end when Bolton officials consulted the midfielder over Enyeama's ability to perform at the highest level.
Enyimba's club chairman Felix Agwu said that Bolton wanted to see Enyeama earlier but that he was needed for their African Champions League match against Senegal's Diaraf.
"The deal would have been concluded some time ago but we had a crucial continental game and luckily Bolton were very understanding," he explained.
"Contrary to media reports that we often deny our players moves abroad, I believe this put a stop to such speculation.
"We wish Vincent (Enyeama) all the best with Bolton."
Meanwhile any deal for Enyeama is likely to be sorted out before the summer transfer window.
