Last years African Champions League runners-up Ismaili of Egypt narrowly beat Stade Tunisien of Tunisia 2-1 in the Confederation Cup on Sunday. Hosts, Ismaili, got the first round first leg tie off to the perfect start when Dramane Traore scored after just seven minutes.
The Egyptian side then doubled their lead when Mohcine Abou-jerisha was on target in the 61st minute.
Stade Tunisien's vital away goal came just two minutes later through Oussama Sellami.
Gambia's Wallidan sprang something of a surprise when they beat Tunisia's Club Africain 2-1 in Banjul.
Moustapha Jarjue scored the opener for the hosts in injury time of the first half and then Lamin Camara scored their second in the last minute.
Club Africain's goal came from Khalfaoui Ashraf.
Senegal's Douanes beat Interclube from Angola 2-1in Luanda.
There was better news for another Angolan side as Petro Huambo beat Ghana's Liberty Professionals 1-0 in Huambo.
Meanwhile in Conakry Etoile Guinea were 1-0 winners over Belouizdad from Algeria thanks to an 87th minute goal from Abou Conte.
