In Kampala, Uganda, Lobi Stars of Nigeria scored late to get a vital 1-1 draw with Express FC.
Substitute Baby Matiyabo gave Express the lead with just six minutes left on the clock with a headed goal from a cross by his skipper Hassan Mubiru.
The Nigerians equaliser came just three minutes later through Ajala Gbenga who rounded defender Israel Emuge and unleashed a shot into the roof of the net past goalkeeper Swaibu Kakwaya.
The Nigerian side celebrated after the final whistle and vowed to win at home.
" We shall beat them in our home ground," said Lobi Stars skipper Ogah Odeh.
However, Lobi's Belgian coach said football is unpredictable and anything could happen in the return leg.
Express's Kenyan coach James Siang'a said Lobi Stars remains confident.
" We still have a chance," he said.
Zimbabwe's Dynamos have lost 1-0 at home to the Ghanaian side King Faisal Babes.
The Ghanaian's winner was scored by Eric Gawu in the 59th minute.

Former African Champions Wydad Casablanca from Morocco beat Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso 1-0 in Ouagadougou.
The only goal of the game came in the 67th minute through Mourad Raji.
Deportivo Mongomo from Equatorial Guinea held Stella from the Ivory Coast to a 1-1 draw at home.
The home side got off to the best possible start with a goal after just three minutes through Chris Mbokou.
The Ivorians scored their vital away goal in the 64th minute as Ali Todouana found the net.
It was also a 1-1 stalemate between Transfoot from Madagascar and their visitors Wits University of South Africa.
