Malawi's Balili Bullets beat Uganda's SC Villa |
Uganda's Express FC began their Confederation Cup campaign on a good note with a 2-1 win over Coffee FC of Ethiopia in Kampala. The first-leg tie was a major test for Kenyan coach James Sianga'a, who joined Express from Simba FC Of Tanzania.
Coffee had taken an early lead in the 8th minute through Fasika Sima, before Wasswa Bbosa levelled the score in the 82nd minute, with Godfrey Ssali hitting the winner two minutes from time.
"This is a good start and we hope to improve before our return leg in Addis Ababa,' Sianga'a said.
Coffee's coach criticised his players for losing concentration in the last quarter of the tie but was confident that they will cancel the one goal deficit in the return leg.
In the first leg of Champions League preliminary matches, Malawi's Bakili Bullets got a 2-1 win over SC Villa of Uganda, while Yennenga of Burkina Faso beat Nigeria's Julius Berger 3-2.
