 Ndolanga wins court verdict |
A Dar es Salaam court has dismissed the case filed in order to remove the current Football Association of Tanzania (Fat) executive. The court, which reached a verdict today, has been deliberating on whether Fat chairman Muhidin Ndolanga's executive should be removed from office based on an earlier Fifa ruling last year.
But Fifa representative Dr Joseph Mifsud recognized Ndolanga after he won a vote of confidence at a General Assembly meeting in February.
Sunday Kayuni and Stanley Lugenge, who took the FA to court, were told today that they have no grounds with which to challenge Ndolanga's executive.
"Fifa was represented at the meeting where the decisions to reinstate Ndolanga was taken," magistrate Francis Mutungi said on Wednesday.
"If there were any questions arising out of that meeting, it had to be channelled to Fifa representative Dr Joseph Mifsud and not to leave them for the court," said Mutungi.
After the verdict, Fat secretary-general Michael Wambura appealed for support.
"The ruling has been made, therefore it is high time we are left alone to do the job without being disturbed," he said.
Wambura added that Kayuni and Lugenge will be banned from Fat activities. Kayuni heads a coaching body, while Lugenge is a chairman of a district football association .
Meanwhile, lawyers representing the two have said that they will appeal against the court's decision to maintain the present Fat executive.
