Muhidin Ndolanga is no longer recognised by Fifa |
Football's world governing body has withdrawn its backing for the Football Association of Tanzania's suspended executive committee.
The committee, led by Muhidin Ndolanga, was suspended in September by Fat's general assembly after it was accused of neglecting its duties because of internal differences.
However, Fifa refused to recognise the changes immediately and instead sent a member of their Players' Status Committee, Dr Joseph Mifsud, to look into the crisis.
Following his investigation in November Mifsud said that he would be reporting that the suspended committee was divided, and that it was operating using an obsolete constitution.
Following Mifsud's report Fifa has now given its full support to the steps taken by Fat's general assembly.
"Fifa has left the Tanzania FA situation to be decided by the country's general assembly," Fifa spokesperson John Schumacher said.
The Fat general assembly will convene at the end of January to decide the final fate of the suspended committee. The Fat interim committee chairman Yahya Mhata will chair the general assembly meeting that will decide the fate of the suspended committee.
He also praised Fifa for the decision.
"I am very happy with Fifa for their good understanding," he told BBC Sport website.
"This means that the general assembly will be under no pressure when they meet to decide the fate of these guys.
"The assembly will review the charges facing each individual before making its final decision.
"Those who will fail to defend themselves convincingly will be expelled, while those who will prove their innocence will be reinstated," added Mhata.
