Coach Siang'a says his team have a 40% chance of winning |
Simba Sports Club captain Boniface Pawasa promised that his team will put up a spirited fight against Asec Mimosa in today's final Champions League match. Simba play Asec knowing a win will qualify them to the semifinals as long as Ismailia beat Enyimba.
Pawasa admitted Simba has a slim chance of squeezing into the semi-finals.
"We have prepared well and have quality players who have matured in the Champions League," he said.
"This is a do or die match for us. We will play as if it is a final.
"It is unfortunate we have injuries to key players - Clement Kahabuka, Yusuph Macho, Selemani Matola and Stephen Mapunda - but we have able replacements.
"I have confidence in the abilities of Ulimboka Mwakingwe, Emmanuel Gabriel, Christopher Alex, Selemani Matola and Edibily Lunyamila.
"They are capable of reading the game well and can adapt to any situation," explained Pawasa.
Simba need to win against Asec |
Kenyan coach James Siang'a was only worried about the condition of his top striker Emmanuel Gabriel.
"I know he is a very committed boy and will play after resting for one or two days," he said of the player who scored against AFC in a league match on Thursday.
The coach believes Simba had a 40 percent chance of winning in Abidjan.
With the exception of Gabriel, Siang'a identified mid-fielders Christopher Alex and Mwakingwe as the players to unlock the Asec Mimosa backline.
