New Tanzania coach Badru now has some cash to prepare his squad |
Tanzania's Taifa Stars have received a huge cash injection from the government as they prepare for next month's 2006 Nations Cup and World Cup qualifier against Kenya. The government has decided to support the team's campaign following changes within the FA, which saw the executive committee being suspended and replaced by an interim committee last week.
"The government asked us to present the budget, which we did," said Mwina Kaduguda, secretary general of FA interim committee.
"To begin with, they will provide $27,000 for the team's preparations for the match with Kenya.
"The team were neglected during their Cup of Nations qualifying campaign and nobody wants a repeat of that."
Tanzania's Tunisia 2004 campaign was beset by serious cash problems that resulted in the Taifa Stars not travelling to their final match in Sudan.
The problems occurred after the government refused to offer support due to misunderstandings with the previous FA.
Meanwhile new coach Hafidh Badru has named his squad that will face Kenya on 11 October in Dar es Salaam.
The 28-man squad, which begins a training camp on Wednesday, includes nine players from Simba SC, who are currently playing in the group phase of the African Champions League.
