Msolla resigned on Monday

Tanzania coach Mshindo Msolla has resigned after failing to lead the Taifa Stars to next year's Nations Cup finals.

Msolla, who took charge of the team last October, said he was leaving because the government and the Football Association of Tanzania (Fat) had failed to support the team.

The Taifa Stars lost all their Nations Cup qualifying games and did not travel to Sudan to honour their last tie as a result of financial problems.

"Tanzania stands out as the only country that neglected its national team in these qualifiers," Msolla told BBC Sport website after handing his resignation to Fat on Monday.

"Our FA officials had no time for the national team because they were busy fighting each other over money."

Msolla complained that the team had little time to prepare for matches and players were not paid the allowances to which they were entitled.

"We once went out to train and when we came back we were barred from entering our hotel rooms because the FA had not paid the bills.

"I have tried my best to serve my country, despite the harsh conditions, but I now feel that I have had enough of this."

Msolla, who combines coaching with a university teaching job, said he will be training local side Reli FC.

FA chairman Muhidin Ndolanga and secretary-general Michael Wambura refused to respond to Msolla's allegations.

"We need time before making any comments about Msolla," Wambura said.
