South Africa

Mosheou [in yellow] had an impressive game

Kaizer Chiefs took over top spot in the league from Ajax Cape Town after a 1-0 win.

Swaziland international Sibusiso Dlamini scored the only goal of the game in the 29th minute after receiving a pass from John 'Shoes' Moshoeu.

Santos moved into second place after their 2-1 win over Black Leopards in Cape Town. Mauritian international striker Jean Marc Ithier opened scoring three minutes from half time.

But Christopher Netshidivhe equalised from the penalty spot in the 45th minute. Marawaan Bantam got the winner for Santos with the last kick of the game.

Zimbabwean coach Roy Barreto was relieved to get a win for Orlando Pirates. They beat struggling Dynamos 2-0 on Saturday.

Newly-promoted Zulu Royals gained their first win of the season when they beat Silver Stars 2-1.

Morocco

Olympic Khourigba are temporary leaders after thrashing Jeunesse Massira 4-0 on Saturday.

Titleholders Hassania Agadir won their first game of the season, beating KAC Kenitra 2-1. There was also a first victory for Renaissance Settat, winning 1-0 against Ittihad Khemisset.

There were two goalless draws - Ittihad Tangier's tie against Mouloudia d'Oujda and Kawkab Marrakech's home game with Chabab Mohammedia.

Raja Casablanca and Moghreb Fes, who were both winners on the opening day, clash on Wednesday. Wydad Casablanca also have a midweek tie against ASS Sale.

Both ties were postponed as a result of the continental club weekend.

Algeria

USM have five games in hand

Widad Tlemcen defeated CA Batna 1-0 to remain at the top after seven games. They have a one point gap on second-placed Etente Setif, who beat CA Bordj Bou Arreridj 2-1.

Mouloudia Algiers are two points behind the leaders after their 2-1 win over US Chaouia.

Champions League participants USM Alger are five points behind but they have two games in hand. USMA will play CR Belouizdad in their next league game.

USM Blida, also with two games in hand, play the deposed Caf Cup holders JS Kabylie. But the biggest win of the last round of games was by NA Hussein-Dey, who beat bottom-placed JSM Bejaia 4-0.

Ghana

Hearts of Oak struggled before beating Okwawu United 1-0.

Following crowd trouble at a recent home game, Hearts' ground has been given a three-match ban, as they play their sanctioned games at Koforidua. Hearts are joint leaders with Asante Kotoko, who have a game in hand.

A top-of-the-table clash between Obuasi Goldfields and King Faisal ended in a goalless draw.

Faisal are in third position but are nine points behind Hearts.

Goldfields are fifth behind Berekum Arsenals, who lost to Power FC.

Tunisia

Esperance had their games postponed till midweek

Three matches took place over the weekend but the results did not affect the top standings.

Stade Tunisien drew 0-0 with Olympic Beja, while Club Athletic Bizerte won their second game, beating ES Beni Khalled 2-0.

There was a first win of the season for Hammam-Lif at the expense of bottom-placed CO Transport.

Games involving the top five sides - US Monastir, Esperance, Etoile Sahel, Club Sfaxien and Club Africain take place on Wednesday and Thursday.
