Julius Berger clinched second place - and a prized Champions League spot - after beating champions Enyimba 1-0 in the season's last round of games.
It was the first home defeat for the Aba side, recently crowned champions for a third successive time.
Berger finished ahead of Rangers International on goals difference.
Delta United, Sunshine Stars, Sharks of Port Harcourt and Jigawa Golden Stars were relegated on the final day of the campaign.

Raja Casablanca got a 2-1 away win at promoted Mouloudia Oujda but champions Hassania Agadir and pre-season favourites Wydad Casablanca were unable to hit the back of the net.
Hassania drew at Jeunesse Massira while Wydad were held at home by Chabab Mohammedia.
Wydad host Zambia's Power Dynamos in the second leg of the African Cup Winners' Cup quarter-final this weekend.
Olympique Khourigba, Maghreb Fes and KAC Kenitra were the other winners.

Cape Verdian striker Jerry Adriano grabbed his sixth goal for US Monastir in their 2-0 away victory at ESB Khalled.

Leaders Widad Tlemcen lost their first game of the season on Friday, going down 2-0 to CA Bordj Bou Arreridj.
Entente Setif and US Chaouia moved into joint second place after securing away victories.
Setif won 2-1 at Chabab Belouizdad while Chaouia were 1-0 winners at USM Blida. Angry Blida fans, upset with the result, fought with riot police.
Champions USM Alger, three points behind the leaders but with two matches in hand, won 3-0 at RC Kouba with Abed Benchergui netting twice.
60,000 fans watched Mouloudia Alger beat NA Hussein-Dey 1-0 in Algiers, with a 65th-minute goal from Ait Athmane.
Zimbabwe

Dynamos beat arch-rivals Highlanders of Bulawayo for a second successive time.
The 2-0 win on Sunday completed their first double over the defending champions and puts them in a position to win their first title in six years. Dynamos lead the table, with Highlanders in second place.
AmaZulu remain in championship contention but Caps United's chances effectively ended when they were beaten 1-0 by relegation-threatened Kambuzuma.
South Africa
Leaders Ajax Cape Town remains the only team with a 100 percent record after last weekend's fixtures.
Coached by Gordon Igesund, who has won the league with three different clubs, they beat Jomos Cosmos 2-1 in Cape Town.
DR Congo international defender Cyrille Kitambala and former Bafana-Bafana striker Bradley August gave Ajax a 2-0 lead before Innocent Ntsume pulled one back for the visitors.
Kaizer Chiefs moved into second place after their 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows, while Moroka Swallows jumped to third following their impressive 3-0 demolition of Supersport United.

Africa Sports Nationale have a two point lead after a slender 1-0 triumph over Sabe Bouna.
Hugues Togbe scored the only goal in the controversial tie. Both sides scored from freekicks in the second-half, but the referee disallowed the goals, ruling that they had been scored from an offside position.
Stade d'Abidjan are second, thanks to a 2-1 win over Satellite FC, while defending champions Asec Mimosas defeated Stella 1-0, courtesy of a 25th minute goal by Romaric Ndri. The win puts them in third place.
