Monastir is still under construction |
The Confederation of African Football has given the thumbs-up for Tunisia to host next year's Nations Cup finals.
But Caf's inspection tour of the facilities in the North African country was bogged down by heavy rains and flooding.
On Friday, Caf president Issa Hayatou declared himself "well satisfied" with the stadiums and arrangements.
He added that he had confidence in Tunisia's ability to host the 16-team event.
"Things are in place to ensure a good organisation of the finals and everything is going according to plan," he said.
He conveyed the same message to Tunisian sports minister Abderrahim Zouari after the completion of the inspection tour.
Two groups of Caf inspectors made up of Nations Cup organising committee members visited the six venues to be used for the finals.
They found some of the sites under construction almost completely surrounded by water from the flooding that has followed two days of persistent rain.
The stadium at Monastir was surrounded by a virtual moat of water and the district's governor came to direct clean-up operations to allow the Caf inspectors to gain access to the venue.
Stadiums in Bizerte, Monastir and Sfax are being refurbished for the event and are supposed to be finished by November.
The stadiums in Sousse, Tunis and Rades, where the final will be played, are ready to go.
The draw for the Nations Cup finals will be made in Tunis on Saturday afternoon.
