Ramzy has another knee injury |
Egypt captain Hany Ramzy could miss next year's Nations Cup finals after sustaining a knee injury on Saturday. The 34 year-old defender tore a cruciate ligament while playing for German first division club Kaiserslautern in a league tie against 1860 Munich.
Ramzy twisted his right knee during a challenge and was substituted before the half-time interval. The injury could keep him out of action for six months.
The latest injury is a bitter blow for Egypt's captain who has just recovered from a previous knee problem sustained in April.
Ramzy also suffered a bout of tuberculosis in September 2002 and was admitted into hospital.
Before his latest injury, Egypt manager Mohsen Salah said the central defender would be a key member of his Nations Cup squad.
