Kanu is back in favour |
Nigeria are due to select a side full of their top overseas stars for Saturday's Nations Cup qualifier against Malawi. "We are not leaving anything to chance," coach Christian Chukwu said as his team made their final preparations for the match.
"We may have won the first match against them right in front of their own fans but it would be wrong of us to take this match lightly," he added.
Nwankwo Kanu looks set to start the game after a solid performance in the recent friendly against Jamaica. He is likely to partner Yakubu Aiyegbeni in attack.
First-choice goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has regained his place after helping Enyimba qualify for the last eight of the African Champions League.
And defender Isaac Okoronkwo is back at the heart of the Eagles' defence after being out since the trip to Angola last September.
Yobo is suffering from injury |
However Everton defender Joseph Yobo remains an injury doubt after failing to make the team's final training session.
But last weekend's four-nations tournament in Tunisia which Nigeria won has thrown-up several new promising players like George Abbey of English third division Macclesfield Town and Chris Obodo from Italian club Perugia, who could step in.
Malawi have said they will not be intimidated by Nigeria, despite the daunting task in front of them.
They need to win to have a chance of qualifying for the finals.
"We respect them but we don't fear them," said midfielder Peter Ngangira.
