Fighting in and around Liberia's Capital, Monrovia, has put Saturday's Nations Cup game against Ethiopia in severe jeopardy. Football is not at the top of fans' minds |
Rebels have entered the Western suburbs of the city, forcing thousands to flee into the centre.
The UN has also relocated from its compound on the outskirts of Monrovia to the city centre, a sure sign that the situation is extremely precarious.
Tension in the capital is running extremely high, and people are more concerned about trying to leave Liberia than organise or watch a football match. The Liberian FA was due to meet on Friday afternoon to plan a way forward.
It is extremely unlikely that the Ethiopians will be willing to remain in Liberia with the situation so dangerous.
