Diabang's next test is in his car |
"I'm very pleased with the way I played," said Arminia Bielefeld's striker Momo Diabang of his performance against Borussia Moenchengladbach at the weekend.
"Especially with the three goals I scored," added the Senegal star, grinning from ear to ear.
Well he may smile. His hat-trick in Bielefeld's 4-1 triumph has made his market value rocket, which could not have come at a better time.
The 24-year-old Diabang is pondering his future in European football, and intends to make a decision in the next few days about where he plays next season.
Diabang's contract with Bielefeld expires at the end of June and his stunning striking power has put him in line for a million-dollar contract, with several top clubs already reported to have a made him lucrative offers.
In his first Bundesliga season Diabang is proving as much of a star as home-spun strikers Kevin Kuranyi (Stuttgart) and Benny Lauth (1860 Munich).
Diabang has scored 10 goals, Lauth 11 and Kuranyi 13 so far in the Bundesliga.
Lauth's scoring talents have already earned him a place in Germany's national team, and Kuranyi is set to join him.
For the moment, though, Diabang's mind is elsewhere.
He faces the theoretical part of his German driving test, and for a foreigner that is as much a test of the German language as the highway code.
There are suggestions his Bielefeld team-mates will rally round should he fail.
After all, Diabang's goals have helped hoist the promotion-winners to 11th place in the league and banished all fears of a return to second division football.
In fact, so grateful are Diabang's team-mates they may even hire a chauffeur for him if the worst comes to the worst.
That could help Diabang make up his mind about where his future lies.
