Metsu is favourite to be named Africa's Coach of the Year |
Bruno Metsu has put an end to speculation linking him to the job of coach of Egyptian club Al Ahly by signing again for UAE club Al Ain. The former Senegal coach, who quit the Dakar Lions after the World Cup, wrapped up the UAE title on Tuesday at his first attempt with the club.
He has now been given a two-year contract extension worth over $1m.
Sheikh Hazzaa Ben Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of Al Ain, confirmed the news.
"We decided to sign two more years with Metsu after his success with the team during the last year leading the club to win the National League," he said in a statement.
Rumours had persisted that Metsu was in negotiations with Ahly, currently managed by Dutch coach Jo Bonfrere.
Although the current Egyptian title-holders, Ahly were vastly disappointing in last season's African Champions League, won by their fierce rivals Zamalek.
