Kaizer Chiefs seriously dented the Premier League title hopes of arch rivals Orlando Pirates with a comfortable 2-0 win in the Soweto derby.

Played in front of 60,000 fans at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, Chiefs win kept their faint title hopes flickering.

Chiefs were full value for their win, as they dominated an action packed game, which saw both sides missing good chances.

Star of the game for Chiefs was veteran former Bafana Bafana midfielder John 'Shoes' Mosheou.

He broke the deadlock with a header from a corner in the 71st minute.

Six minutes later, the 37-year old Mosheou showed pace which belied his age.

He outwitted the Pirates defence to latch onto a through ball which he then crossed onto the head of unmarked David Radebe who nodded it into an empty net.

Mosheou duly won the Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance.

Chiefs are now in sixth position, seven points behind leaders Wits University.

But Chiefs have played one game more than the leaders, who have six games left.

Orlando Pirates are currently in third place, with a game in hand.
