Former youth international Gamal Hamza scored the winning goal in the 76th minute, finishing off an easy rebound in an encounter which failed to live up to its billing.
Ahly also beat Al Masry 2-0 on Friday, giving them an eight point gap over Zamalek.

Police fired teargas in an abandoned league game between Lobi Stars and home side Kano Pillars on Wednesday to disperse a rioting crowd.
Fans threw missiles onto the pitch after Lobi Stars scored a goal in the 70th minute.
The NFA are deciding what action to take, but Pillars could be banned from their home ground in Kano for providing inadequate security.
Defending champions Enyimba beat Kwara United 1-0 to open a three-point gap at the top of the table. Their closest pursuers, Bendel Insurance of Benin, lost 1-0 to Iwuanyanwu Nationale, but stay second in the table.

Jomo Cosmos midfielder Innocent Ntsume earned his side the points with a last minute goal, after Craig Bianchi put Sundowns ahead with an early header.
