Nigeria:
Former international Rashidi Yekini continues to hog the headlines, scoring again and creating another as Julius Berger beat Sharks 2-0 in Abeokuta on Saturday. The legendary veteran put Berger ahead in the 75th minute from the penalty spot, and five minutes later his perfect lob found Bayo Hassan to register 'The Bridge Boys' second goal.
Yekini has now netted five goals in two weeks.
Egypt:
Twenty policemen were hurt by rioting football supporters after Al Ahly visited Ismailia. Dozens of people were also treated in hospital after police fired teargas to break up the clashes.
Ismaili fans attacked supporters of Ahly after their team lost 1-0 to the league leaders. Police said they made 150 arrests.
Meanwhile Egyptian legend, Hossam Hassan, cried on national TV as he tried to explain how Zamalek were held to a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted Haras Hedood.
The result increases the gap between Zamalek and arch-rivals, Al Ahly, to eight points.
Algeria:
USM Algiers have taken a four point lead after a top of the table clash against USM Blida.
The won the game 3-0, with international Bilal Dziri scoring first, and then Moncef Ouiachaoui taking his tally of the season to ten by scoring a double.
In the other big game, there was a painful defeat for defending Caf Cup Champions JS Kabylie, who lost to Chabab Belouizdad 1-0.
Morocco:
Argentine coach, Oscar Fullone returned to the dug-out for Wydad Casablanca in their 1-1 with Moghreb Fes. Fullone had threatened to quit the African Cup Winners Cup holders because of a strained relationship with the club's bosses and a dispute over unpaid wages.
Hassania Agadir continued their march toward a second successive title with a 3-0 away win at Kawkab Marrakesh that keeps them six points clear at the top of the standings.
Raja Casablanca's winning run under new coach Henri Michel came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Jeunesse Massira, who got their winner with an 86th-minute penalty.
South Africa
Orlando Pirates are back on top of the premier league after winning 1-0 at home to Ajax Cape Town on Sunday. Four different clubs have now been top of the table over the last 10 days as just two points separate the five leading teams.
Cameroon
Jean Etele Ambassa's goal ended the six-match winning streak of premier league leaders PWD Bamenda, beaten 1-0 at Bamboutos in Mbouda on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Bamenda remain top of the standings, four points ahead of Cotonsport and Bamboutos.
