Blatter is unhappy with Kenya's action |
Fifa boss Sepp Blatter has warned the Kenyan government that the disbanding of the national under-17 team could lead to the country's exclusion from the African Nations Cup. Fifa says the decision by Kenya's sports minister Najib Balala to disband the team goes against its rules on political interference.
Balala dissolved the team earlier this month and ordered them to withdraw from the African U17 championship after allegations that it had fielded over-age players.
But Blatter said it was the responsibility of the Confederation of African Football to investigate the allegations and act if it saw fit to do so.

"It is important that a regular process of investigation takes place according to the common standards and that no rush to judgement be invoked," said Blatter in a letter copied to the Kenyan FA and Caf. "It is the responsibility of the African Confederation to decide whether such allegations, if proven real, deserve investigation," said the Fifa boss.
Blatter told Balala that his actions could jeopardise Kenya's chances of qualifying for the Nations Cup.
The minister is meeting with the FA on Wednesday to discuss a response to Blatter's letter. On Tuesday Balala announced in parliament that the FA would be dissolved and new elections called following the age-cheating allegations.
He told MPs that it had been a national embarrassment.
Any such move will be fiercely resisted by Fifa and could lead to Kenya being banned from all international competitions.
