The Confederation of African Football is investigating claims by Mozambique that Guinea cheated to reach the finals of the African U17 Championship.

Despite winning the weekend's game in Maputo 2-1, Mozambique were knocked out 4-2 on aggregate.

Mozambique's FA has written to Caf to protest about the eligibility of three Guinean players who took part in the match.

Caf has opened an inquiry in the matter and will deliver a report to the Youth Competitions Organising Committee on 1 April in Johannesburg.

Earlier this month Kenya withdrew its U17 team from the competition after the sports minister discovered that some of their players were over 20.

Age cheating has long been a problem in many African countries, with many players not having birth certificates and documents being easily forged.
