Kilambe goes missing

Zambia striker Rotson Kilambe has disappeared from his new club Zanaco after his record move from Power Dynamos.

Kilambe went awol last Thursday after completing the local transfer for a record US$9,000.

Zanaco chairman Lawrence Chileshe confirmed the player is believed to have flown to the Middle East for trials.

However, Chileshe said the player's move was without the blessing of Zanaco.

"We have been taken aback," he said.

"We don't know where he has gone, though there are rumours that he has gone to the Middle East," he added.

Kilambe's close friends are reported to be claiming the striker is in the United Arab Emirates attending trials at first division side Al-Nasr.

They said that Kilambe, who is expected back in the country this week, left without clearance because of the red tape involved in getting Zambian players abroad.

Zambian players are supposed to get clearance from their clubs, the FA and the National Sports Council before leaving for trials.

Football Association of Zambia general secretary Paul Simukoko said an inquiry has been launched into Kilambe's disappearance.

He said Kilambe's behaviour cannot be tolerated.
