Sundowns fire coach for Queiroz attacks
Carlos Queiroz
Queiroz was sacked by Safa in March
By BBC Sport Online's Mark Gleeson

One of former South Africa coach Carlos Queiroz's biggest critics has been suspended by his club following his frequent outbursts against the national team boss.

Ted Dumitru, the veteran coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, was told last Friday he would not longer coach the Pretoria club, who last year reached the final of the African Champions League.

"He has spent too much criticising the South African Football Association and the Bafana Bafana coach and not concentrating enough on his own team," said Sundowns director Angelo Tsichlas.

The 66-year-old Dumitru is a Romanian by birth but an American citizen.

He was worked in Africa for more than two decades and been national coach of Zambia, Swaziland and Namibia.

But most of his time has been in South Africa, where he helped Sundowns to win two titles in 1998 and 1999.

Dumitru was regularly critical of South Africa's playing style under Queiroz, accusing the Portuguese trainer of imposing too many restrictions on the natural African flair.

He said at times that the Bafana Bafana side looked like a set of robots.
