The York District U13s have reached the English Schools Inter Association FA Cup final for the first time.
York beat Cambridge Schools 5-2 in their semi-final at Histon.
Manager Tony Wales told BBC Radio York: "The team were fantastic. We made a tactical change at half-time when it was 1-1, got on top and then led 5-1.
"I'm so proud of the boys for achieving this. There are two or three players on the ladder (to becoming professionals) but there ought to be 15."
Wales added: "We work quite closely with the York (City FC) centre of excellence and we've got several players who play for us from there.
"Three of the lads are on academy terms, two of whom play for Middlesbrough and one for Barnsley."
York beat Harrogate & Craven, Hambleton & Richmond, Hartlepool, Sheffield, Newcastle and now Cambridge to clinch their final against Southampton.
"We're on tenterhooks waiting for a venue, we're hoping that we can secure a Premiership ground," Wales added.
"That would be really exciting, not just for the lads but for the parents as well. It's the culmination of a journey that started back in November.
"They're all very competent footballers and a joy to manage."
