Northern Ireland to play Turkey and Chile in tour

Northern Ireland will play Turkey and World Cup bound Chile in a two-game tour next month.

Nigel Worthington's team will take on Turkey at the Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut, on 26 May.

The second friendly is four days later with Chillan the venue for the match against Chile, who are preparing for the World Cup finals in South Africa.

It is likely that many NI regulars will be missing from the tour, allowing Worthington to try out fringe players.

The Turkey squad will be out to impress former Chelsea boss Gus Hiddink, who will take over as national manager after his contract with Russia expires on 30 June.

Chile, currently ranked 13th in the world, are on their way to South Africa after finishing second in the South America qualifiers.

The Chileans are in Group H along with Spain, Switzerland and Honduras.

Northern Ireland will use the tour as preparation for the Euro 2012 qualifiers, starting in September with an away game against Slovenia.
