Northern Ireland will start their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign with an away game against Slovenia on 3 September.

Nigel Worthington's team is next in action against world champions Italy at Windsor Park on Friday, 8 October.

A trip to take on the Faroe Islands follows four days later before an away game against Serbia on 25 March, 2011.

Most games will be played on Fridays and Tuesdays and N Ireland's qualifiers finish next year with a daunting away game with Italy on 11 October.

Northern Ireland's only Wednesday fixture comes against the Faroe Islands in Belfast in August next year.

Slovenia, who finished runners-up in Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifying group, will provide a stern opening test.

Northern Ireland lost 2-0 in Slovenia in the opening meeting between sides in the qualifiers before Worthington's side clinched a 1-0 victory in Belfast.

The Slovenians went on to beat Russia in the play-offs and secure a place at the finals in South Africa.

It is a tough group for Northern Ireland with Serbia and Italy also set to compete in South Africa.
