Cugley's side were eight points clear of Croydon at the top of the league
Folkestone Invicta have secured their future after coming to a creditors agreement with HM Revenue and Customs.
But the club has been deducted 10 points, meaning it loses its eight point lead at the top of Ryman South.
Boss Neil Cugley told BBC Radio Kent: "If it was a choice of losing 10 points or going bankrupt, well at least we have the better choice in the end.
"The club's been saved. It means we can get on with it now. We can kick on, enjoy the rest of this season."
He added: "We can have a good season next year and keep getting the club on a better footing.
"At least it's taken things off our shoulders when we didn't know what's going on."
The points deduction is a blow to Invicta's promotion hopes as they drop to third in the table.
But Cugley insists it is not the right time for them to go up to a higher division.
"If we go up, we go up, the budget won't go up, it will possibly even be a bit less, but we are enjoying every minute of it and so are the players." he said.
