Torquay United suffered a heavy defeat in their latest pre-season friendly, going down 4-1 to Bristol Rovers.
Rovers had secured their victory by half-time when they led 3-1 through a close-range shot from Ben Swallow and Darryl Duffy's brace.
Nicky Wroe had pulled a goal back, with his penalty, to make the score 2-1, but Rovers extended their lead when Sean Rigg slotted home on 82 minutes.
The only setback for the Pirates was an injury to defender Byron Anthony.
Despite the one-sided scoreline, Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope refused to read too much into the result.
We counter-attacked to fantastic effect, but we have a lot to work on
Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope
He told the club's website: "We knew Torquay would probably be a little bit sharper than us in certain aspects of the game and I think that proved to be the case as they passed the ball quite well.
"But it was an exercise we were pleased with and the result, really, is irrelevant.
"We counter-attacked to fantastic effect, but we have a lot to work on. We need to improve, but there were a lot of good signs."
