Plymouth suffered a shock 49-41 defeat against Bournemouth in the first leg of the National League knock-out cup semi-final on Saturday. The Devils will now have to overcome an eight-point deficit in the deciding leg away on 13 August. Plymouth had a six-point lead after six heats but were pegged back in the second half of the meet. Crucial falls for Kyle Hughes and Mark Simmonds cost the home side valuable points as Bournemouth took control. Bournemouth's revival was helped in part by a sterling performance from 18-year-old reserve, Jerran Hart, who scored a 21-point maximum.
